We're a family-run tutoring and essay marking service in Sydney helping HSC students develop their writing skills.
We believe that essay writing is the most valuable skill a student can learn for their HSC. As English is the only subject that must be included in the calculation for your ATAR, it's important to get it right.
When writing essays it's very important to know the content, but the key to getting the higher marks is in a student's ability to connect the content with what is being asked in the question. This is the difference between a student that gets a Band 4 or 5, with those achieving a Band 6.
This is where we come in.
Our family has been teaching HSC students for decades and each of us has marked the HSC on many occasions. We know what HSC markers are looking for and can help students get the best marks possible.
To mimic the HSC marking experience, we have students upload a copy of an essay through our website, our marker reviews it, and returns personalised feedback to help the student understand the marks they missed and where they can improve.
We've seen incredible results from students doing this weekly. Every week the little improvements compound and the skills acquired transfer to all subjects involving an essay writing component.
We've seen students go into exams with a prepared essay only to find it's not at all relevant to the question being asked on the day. We prepare students so that they're confident to write an essay perfectly answering the question that they're presented with on the day.

Send an essay
Standard and Advanced English, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Studies of Religion, Geography, Modern History, Ancient History. $50 per essay, 1000 to 1200 words. We email the comments within 72 hours.
A live session
If you want to talk it through as well, the session is online, anywhere in NSW. $125, usually an hour. Same three people. We still don't write the essay.

What do you actually do?
You send us an essay, one of us marks it the way an HSC marker would, and we email back personalised feedback within 72 hours. Each essay gets about 30 minutes of our time and costs $50.

Why not just teach the content?
Most students know the content by the time they sit down to write. The marks go when the essay drifts away from what the question is asking. Feedback on a real essay shows a student where that happened, and the skill carries over to every subject that involves essay writing.

How often should a student send an essay?
Weekly works best. The small improvements add up from week to week, and the student gets used to writing an answer to a question they have not seen before, which is what the exam asks of them.

Who reads the essay?
Anthony, Cathie or Jack. Between us we have decades of teaching behind us and each of us has marked the HSC, so your essay is always read by one of us.

Do you write the essay?
No. We mark what the student wrote and explain how to improve it. An essay written for them would not help in the exam.

Can we also book a live session?
Yes. We offer online 1-on-1 tutoring anywhere in NSW for $125 a session, usually about an hour. Send an enquiry through the tutoring form and we will be in touch.

How long should the essay be?
Between 1000 and 1200 words. That is the length we mark and the length students should be aiming for. You can upload up to 10 essays in one order, charged at $50 each.
